New Vöstra racket series hints at its rich history with 100 years of consistent innovation within the sports industry.
Völkl Tennis takes the next remarkable step as a brand launching the Vöstra line, a brand new series of high-quality rackets which pay homage to the initial name of the brand which came about by combining the first few letters in the bavarian city Straubing - the birthplace of Völkl - with Völkl, the name of the founder Franz Völkl. Following in the footsteps of a century of spectacular innovation, the new Vöstra series feel like each racket is tailored specifically for each player based on their unique style of play.
The title Vöstra also possesses historical significance, with the ski company going by this very name for the first 40 years in existence prior to being rebranded as Völkl. The new line also pays homage to Völkl’s 100 years on the map as a leading sports manufacturer of ski equipment and later venturing into tennis, revisiting the past with the aesthetics as well as bringing back the name to you, the people. Franz Völkl - the founder of Völkl - started producing boats and sleds in 1923 before his son took the helm of the family-run business in the early ‘50s, unveiling a plan which took the ski industry by storm. Then in 1972 Völkl Tennis was born, immediatly galvanizing and revolutionizing the tennis market by producing the first-ever all-fiberglass racket named Zebra with its legendary zebra stripes. Over the past century, Völkl has proven itself as one of the leading providers of ski and tennis-centric equipment to elite and recreational individuals.
The Vöstra rackets come equipped with the new german-engineered Red Cell technology, a combination of Völkl‘s V-Cell and Reva technology. This Red Cell material is a comprised blend placed in the racket hoop and throat of all Vöstra rackets. The result is a high playability frame with the perfect mixture of strength and elasticity that provides outstanding feel and control. Red Cell technology rackets will also have increased ball-pocketing resulting in more power. It will extend the sweet spot and the racket will have more tortional stability.
